Seniors

Baylanna Brash

Baylanna Brash, 17, is currently a senior at Flathead High School. She was born and raised in Kalispell Montana. Ever since she was little she would make up dances with her friends and perform for her family. Her dance journey started in 2019, at the beginning of 8th grade. Her first dance teacher was Kate, but unfortunately that year was cut short due to Covid-19. The next year was a confusing time for her in terms of how she felt about dance. “As much as I loved to dance before, I was in a class with kids that were way younger than me. I went home crying after almost every class I went to, and I wanted to quit.” But Dance Elements didn’t give up on her. “My mom called the studio and they told her that I should try out this other class. I was really nervous and was very scared. And it wasn’t until my mom and I were driving to class that she told me I would be in Studio A. That’s when I lost it.” She started crying and telling her mom “But that’s where the good people dance”. That day she sat in the parking lot with her mom and didn’t go into the studio. But that following week, she did. She finished out that dance season and the next year got into Elements United. She has been in Elements United and Elements Collide. She was in Elements United for one year and in Elements Collide for two years. Baylanna also enjoys hanging out with friends, being with family, and outside activities. Next year, Baylanna is planning on continuing to work and studying for her real estate exam to become a real estate agent. One of the most important things to Baylanna is caring for others and making them feel included. “One of my favorite things that people say to me is that they look up to me. I love being able to help influence the people around me, younger or older.” Baylanna wanted to give a huge thank you to her mother. “My mom has taught me so many things in life. She has shown me unlimited amounts of love and kindness, and she has always been there for me. My mom has pushed me to be the best I can be, and has never given up on me. I am beyond grateful for everyone in my life and everyone that has had an impact on my life.” Not only that, but she would also like to show appreciation to her dance teachers. “Throughout the years, I've had Anna, Kate, and Amy as my teachers. They all have had different impacts on me and my dance life but also my life outside of dance. Amy has shown me so much love and kindness and she has never once reminded me of Abby Lee Miller (if you don't know who that is, wow, go look it up). I love to be in her classes and get to dance with her. She is such an amazing teacher but most importantly an amazing person. She has put countless hours into all of us to make sure that we put our best selves out there, whether that be on the dance floor or in everyday life. Every time I look at Amy I look at someone who has spent years in a studio and still walks in everyday because she wants to share her love of dance with all of us.”

Chloe is overwhelmed with the love and support she has been given throughout her time at Dance Elements and especially now as adulthood awaits. She would like to show appreciation to her parents Janell, Dj, Shawn and Jess for the opportunities and sacrifices they have made and the unwavering love they have shown. Lots of love to Chloe’s many brothers Rio, Tyee, Harper, Dalton, Roczen and Indy, for putting up with all the mini dance recitals, playing dress up and always showing up and showing support for Chloe. Lastly Chloe would like to show gratitude to the people who make Dance Elements what it is. Amy Arriaga and Kate Naumann created an environment for Chloe, and so many others, to be able to express and feel all the emotions of life and grow and prosper in healthy and fulfilling ways. Chloe has been with Amy since she was 6 years old. Amy has seen Chloe grow and develop and has taught Chloe many lessons in life. Amy is an incredible, reliable, and trustworthy person in Chloe’s life and has given Chloe the opportunities of a lifetime. Chloe spent a few years along Kate dancing as well as many other moments in and out of the studio. Kate is a strong role model in Chloe’s life and has been there for her through it all. Kate’s unconditional love and support has helped Chloe tremendously through the hardships of life. Chloe has undeniable gratitude towards all the teachers and people she has met through dance and is so happy to have made such life long friendships and memories that she wouldn’t trade for the world. Although Chloe’s time at Dance Elements has came to end she will never forget all the love that comes from the studio and the people within.

Next year Bella is planning on pursuing Secondary Education at either University of Hawaii, Manoa or University of Montana. Bella is thankful for all of her family and friends, especially her father, Chris, for all his support, her stepmother, Becky, for driving her to every competition and her grandma, Melissa, as she’s payed for all her years at dance. Dance has been such a huge part of Bella’s life. Not only has it been a passion of hers, but the studio itself has been a second home. Bella say’s her strongest connections have been made at dance, and she knows they will never be lost. Bella has had the opportunity to dance under the direction of all four choreographers at Dance Elements: Ellexa Hofeldt, Anna Elm, Kate Neumann, and of course Amy Arriaga. Bella isn’t planning on continuing her competitive dance career after this season, but she know’s she will be seeking studio time, and will be dancing in her mirror any chance she gets. She has never appreciated anything more than dance, especially after this year. She will forever miss her dance family here at Dance Elements, and wants to stay that… Once a DE Dragon, Always a DE Dragon.

Kayanna would like to thank Dance Elements for the home and the family it has given her. Dance has taught Kayanna how to express emotions through art and taught her how to memorize things very quickly. Dance is like her second home and there's nowhere she’d rather be than working her tail off in the studio. It’s been an honor for her to dance beside such beautiful and multi talented dancers. She would like to thank Ellexa and Mila for helping with her movement and showing her how to fix her posture in a specific move or pushing the movement through her fingers. She would like to thank Kate for everything she's taught her and how she has supported her through the last few years, being another person for her to come to when it's unexpectedly needed, and giving her hope in times where she felt lost. They are the only reason she has been able to pursue this talent and have pushed her to be her absolute best and continue to grow in dance. They have helped Kayanna create the true passion she has for dance. Watching her dad become a dance dad over the years couldn’t have made her more proud of the work she’s put in. Moving onto the next part of her life, she will only think about the people that have helped her get there. Kayanna will always love the Dance Elements family more than anything.
